The Overland
Journey: Melbourne - Adelaide
The Overland commenced service in 1887, pioneering intercapital rail travel between Melbourne and Adelaide. The century old name came from the affectionate term "Overlander", an adventurer who had travelled across the country. The Overland’s emblem is the Kookaburra, symbolic of a new day and new beginnings.
Ongoing initiatives, including the recent introduction of a Daylight Service from Adelaide to Melbourne to enable guests to view the beautiful country scenery enroute, ensure The Overland remains a stylish and comfortable way to travel between these two cosmopolitan cities. The Overland operates two different services four times per week: daylight service Adelaide to Melbourne and return overnight service Melbourne to Adelaide.
